Here at PsychMatters, we’re always after ways to help the up and coming so we’ve devised our Startup feature to showcase the very best of the best in the startup world. Introducing – Cognitive Lode.
“We distill the latest behavioural economics and consumer psychology research down into helpful little brain gems.”
How did you come across the idea for your business?
We were frustrated by the lack of a simple, understandable resource that exposes the latest fascinating work in the fields of behavioural economics and consumer psychology. We started by giving internal behavioural talks to large retailers such as Tesco, before tweeting out beautifully-illustrated facts on our ribot twitter account. Given their popularity, we created a site through our ribotDays innovation process, and launched after a few weeks of development.
Who do you view as your competitors?
We’re still working that out…
Where do you see yourselves in a years time?
We aim to have implemented our subscription strategy, and to have ramped up the content output by having a team of gem-writers, as well as a number of roles filled in sales and marketing.
What advice would you give fellow startups?
Start with something simple that people find real use for, and work out how to make money after.
Anything else we should know?
Are you a cognitive miser?
A bat and ball together cost $1.10. The bat costs $1 more than the ball. How much does ball cost?
